Heartsaver FAQS

Heartsaver courses are designed for workplace responders, childcare providers, and the general public — not specifically for healthcare professionals. BLS certification is the standard for clinical and healthcare roles. If you're unsure which course meets your employer's requirements, contact us and we'll help you choose.

They teach CPR, AED use, choking relief, and basic first aid. The Heartsaver classes have different options. You can view those differences below.

This course combines CPR, AED, and comprehensive first aid training in a single certification. It is designed to meet OSHA regulatory requirements for workplace first aid training, making it ideal for offices, manufacturing facilities, hospitality staff, and any employer with safety compliance obligations. The Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED course can be completed in either a blended or classroom format. The blended option includes an online portion that takes approximately 2–3 hours, followed by a brief in-person skills session lasting about 1–2 hours. The traditional classroom format is completed entirely in person and typically takes about 3.5 hours total.

A focused course covering adult, child, and infant CPR and AED use — without the full first aid component. It's shorter than the First Aid CPR AED course and is popular with schools, gyms, fitness trainers, and security personnel who only need CPR/AED compliance. The blended option includes an online portion that takes approximately 2–3 hours, followed by a brief in-person skills session lasting about 1–2 hours. The traditional classroom format is completed entirely in person and typically takes about 3.5 hours total.

This course is designed to meet regulatory requirements for pediatric first aid, CPR, and AED training. It is required for childcare workers, daycare staff, school employees, and youth sports coaches in most states. Groups in this field book frequently and are often mandated to maintain current certification.
